Audi will join Formula 1 as a hybrid engine supplier for 2026

After months of innuendo, hypothesis and rumor, German car large Audi has announced that it'll be a part of Formula One from the 2026 season. 

The VW-owned corporation says it will build a brand new hybrid engine for the opposition at its facility in Neuburg. 

Audi stated that technical adjustments made via the game’s governing body, the FIA, to prevent fee overruns and improve sustainability induced it to join up.

It’s was hoping Audi will assist push the sport to its bold purpose of being weather neutral by means of 2030.

Broadly speaking, the FIA’s new engine specs require a V6 engine designed to run on a more sustainable gas combination. 

Paired with that will be a 400kW electric motor with an output of around 544 horsepower, making it nearly as effective as the V6 itself. 

Audi added that its mission may be led via Adam Baker, who has formerly served because the FIA’s Safety Director, and had stints with Cosworth (some other F1 engine maker) and BMW.
